Around Town with the Deathly Hallows

While you might already know the ending to the new Harry Potter book, there’s nothing quite like having it in your hands. For the next three days, make your friends (and strangers!) jealous with your very own copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!

Get Your Own Copy

Unless you’re the CEO of Scholastic, we’re willing to bet you don’t have your own copy of the book yet. Here are our suggestions for finding a copy of it before Friday…

If your UPS guy is stronger than ours was and managed to wrestle the book back…

…you can always find a bookstore with a pile of them in the back just waiting for you to liberate them!

You might just get lucky checking out some trash cans – you never know what new yorkers are going to throw away!

If you’re not up for leaving the house just yet, you could just find a high resolution shot of the book cover online, print it out, and slap it on an older Harry Potter book!

Now what?

With its exciting new cover in place, we decided to head out into the world and see what other people thought of it! First stop was the local park…it didn’t take long before someone caught on and decided to read over our shoulder.

We wouldn’t tell this guy who dies…

While you’re in the park, you’ll probably come across some kids…

It turns out they really want the new book. Who knew how fast kids could run!

We hopped on the bus to get away from the crazy kids. Fortunately, they haven’t figured out how to use metrocards yet. We got some attention on the bus…it turns out kids aren’t the only ones who care about HP.

We had one last stop we wanted to make with our book – Barnes and Noble. We’ve never been big on stealing from bookstores, but we don’t see anything wrong with leaving stuff on the shelves!

“While You’re Waiting for Harry Potter…” The giant Harry Potter display is probably your best bet for getting the book noticed.

An unsuspecting customer takes the bait…

You should probably be ready to explain what’s up fast, before someone throws your book at you…

Once we’d had out fun with the new book, we decided to see what the staff thought of it. Waiting for them to catch on was getting old, so we decided to return our copy of HP 7. The first woman was a little confused and called in some reinforcements.

“That’s illegal to have! Are you from Scholastic?”

Of course, they finally opened the book and caught on. Once they realized that they didn’t actually have copies of the new book out on their shelves, they were pretty good sports about the whole thing.

If you’re not really into the crazy stunts, you’ll still get a lot of attention just walking down the street with the new book. Just look at all our new friends!

We didn’t let on that the book wasn’t real…it would have broken their hearts!

You could probably sell it to someone, but that wouldn’t be very nice of you.

And, of course, always be careful. You never know what a crazy Harry Potter fan will do to find out what happens!
