Insanely Great Tees is pleased to announce our first big contest ever – and this one’s a doozy. All you have to do is make a 30-second iPhone ad. Keep it in the style of the “I’m a Mac” ads. There are three rules – First, your commercial has to include the words “I’m an iPhone.” It has to be about 30-seconds long. And it’s gotta be funny. Aside from that, you’re free to do whatever you want – go for the traditional video on a white background, or perhaps something more experimental with puppets, animation, cardboard cutouts. Be entertaining. Be amazing. Have your friends over and make a movie. Because the prize is worth it…

What’s that you say? What’s the prize that we’ll give the winner? Well, we’re giving away an iPhone. All the finalists will get Insanely Great Tees, and everybody who enters gets SOMETHING (maybe you’ll get famous!).

Here’s what you do.

First, you’ve got to make an ad. Shoot it with your built in iSight (like we did), your handheld camera, or best of all, a real DV camera. Make it funny – pull out all the stops. For example, we know one of your characters is an iPhone – what’s the other character? It could be a camera phone, it could be a Mac, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, anybody.

Once you’ve shot your movie, edit it in iMovie or whatever you see fit. Keep it to 30 seconds or so.

Then, upload it to YouTube. We just set up our first YouTube account – trust us, it’s simple. Add your uploaded video to the “Insanely Great Tees” group so that other people can see it. Feel free to send us a link to it as well (use our comments field).

In a week and a half, on May 7th, we’ll take the best videos and post them to our blog and open it up for voting. You guys will help us pick the best ad, and that winner will receive an iPhone! (Alright – Like almost everybody else in the world, we don’t actually have an iPhone yet. But what we do have is a lovely $500 gift certificate to the Apple Store which you can use to buy yourself that shiny iPhone as soon as Apple finishes building ‘em.)

Videos go up for voting: Wednesday, May 9th, 2007.

Final winners announced: Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

Alright – you’ve got two weekends, so get to it! PS – Here’s a sample video we made. We said you have a week in this video, but we really mean nine days.

Fine print: Insanely Great Tees reserves the right to refuse any entries to the contest for whatever reason, at any time. We’re looking for quality content here – try to avoid any nudity or gratuitous violence in your ad (”Hi! I’m an ice pick!”). Voting on the videos will be used to determine the finalists, we’re gonna pick the winner of that iPhone (to help avoid vote fraud). We reserve the right to extend contest deadlines as we see fit, but don’t worry, we’re reasonable chaps and won’t extend the contest for a million years or something like that. This contest is of course in no way endorsed by Apple or anybody in Cupertino, so don’t go thinking it’s official or anything. The Prize, as stated above, is a $500 gift certificate to the Apple Store. At least five finalists will receive Insanely Great Tees, and all entrants will receive an Insanely Great Coupon, worth at least $5 off a purchase of an Insanely Great Tee.
