Dharma Initiative Rations

Update! As you can see, we had to remove the actual lost labels from our site after some friendly talks with Disney. We still love LOST, and we came up with something new for this year – it’s the LOST Season 4 Prediction Form!

Click here to check it out!

While waiting for tonight’s LOST party, we realized that normal food wasn’t gonna cut it tonight. We wanted to eat like Hurley and drink like Desmond, and thus was born the Lost Label Project – an effort to make our pantry look way more like this.

A few hours later, we’re proud to present to you the fruits of our labors – the Dharma Initiative Rations. We’ve got Beer (did you spot the Dharma-brand Merlot in last seasons finale?) Cola (just in case Walt comes back), Crisps (to consume alongside aforementioned beer), and Peanut Butter (It’s delicious). Not a bad lineup.

And because the best part of making something cool is sharing it, we created a downloadable Label-Maker kit. Just grab [link removed per the policies of the Hanso Foundation], print it out, tape it to some beer bottles, and drink to your hearts content. Change the words and turn everything you own into a Dharma ration!

Instructions for printing your own labels:
On the off chance that you are actually as crazy as we are, here are some tips for printing your own beer labels: Regular paper is fine (double stick tape!) though if you’re going for the professional touch, label paper is definitely the way to go. They sell it at Staples and it works like a charm. If you decide to customize the label for your own products, the typeface used is Interstate Condensed. It’s a great typeface, based on the signs you see along a highway.

Here’s a bonus picture of some labels in progress!

And another bonus picture of Hurley appreciating our work!

wideawakewesley,

Guys, you really need to provide PDFs for the labels you’ve made, the world’s gonna go crazy for this sh*t!

A.Reader,

Very nice, but I think
the barcode number
should be 040815162342.

Ric,

This is very cool! But isn’t there a light line above and below the name of the product? See PEARS on the last photo.

Don Harris,

That’s awesome. Surely you could have come up with a better number sequence for the bar code… eh?

Chris,

Fun!

And your use of the Illustrator CS3 beta to generate them makes me peanut butter and jealous!

N/A,

You should put where to find that font for free. I’ve been looking and cannot find it.

Alexander,

Um, seriously started LOLing when I saw the price of the font. Is there anyway to get it for you know, not a thousand dollars? Wink-wink. My e-mail is right there.

krausbrew,

Being a professional brewer, I know beer contains no fat. If a beer contained as much fat as it showed on that label it wouldn’t hold a head and would grease your throat on the way down. So to answer Ryan’s query, no, I don’t believe these are real nutritional values.

Insanely Great News,

[...] Hey Guys, bad news. Remember those Lost labels we made back in February? It turns out that the Hanso Foundation got a little jealous of the attention. We just got a letter in the mail outlining in no uncertain terms that they’re serious about protecting the identity of the Dharma Initiative. We’ve been told we have to remove the downloads, so we’ve taken down the PDF’s of the labels. It was fun while it lasted, but we don’t want to get involved in a giant legal battle – you never know when these guys are just gonna send a polar bear after us. Here’s the letter, so you can see what we’re up against – [...]
